Omitting Text String in Subject

Can hypermail omit a string from the Subject line of a message?

For example, messages coming into my mail queue will have "Subject: [sometext] <Then the actual text of the subject>"

I want the literal string, "[sometext]" (including braces, "[]") to be omitted when converted to hypermail like so: "Subject: <Then the actual text of the subject>"

Can I do this without running this through a script, first?

TIA
