I have tried splitting up mails by month and year some time ago and decided on using procmail and formail for this. With _much_ help from the procmail mailinglist I was able to come up with a "tutorial".

It´s not complete, badly maintained and probably buggy.

Still it might be a start - you have been warned ;)
