Hi Daniel & all,

I've spent several hours this weekend reviewing the latest release of Hypermail. As I noted in my first message to you, the inline image function seems broke - at least when used with mail from Mutt. Here is a complete list of what I've found:

  1. options.h is broken pretty bad - I could not define message footers, headers, or index footers/headers. I know the file is getting included, but the variables aren't being set. Variables COULD be set in the environment, and worked fine in most cases...
  2. inline images aren't working (Mutt-sent) even when the variable is set in the environment.
  3. In defining my own message header file, I had a need to indicate the name of the archive (as set with the -l command line switch) and message subject. I want these names to appear in the HTML title and elsewhere in the header part of the BODY. There appears to be no current way to do this. Can this feature be added?
  4. At the top of the message files, Hypermail states the message author and the message date below that. It would be more aesthetically pleasing to list these as the headers they really are, preceded by the message subject in similar format.    On my system, I put the archive name as the first word(s) seen at the    top of the document (need #3 to do it), instead of the message subject.

5. On the index, the Starting and Ending dates are not following the same

convention, even though both are labeled as EST. They both appear    to be several hours ahead of reality.

6. In the index file, we can save a couple lines of fairly redundant text by

   saying:

17 Messages sorted by: [ author ][ thread ][ subject ]    instead of:

        Messages sorted by: [ author ] [ thread ] [ subject ]    Starting: Sat 13 Feb 1999 - 23:43:06 EST    Ending: Mon 15 Feb 1999 - 01:47:29 EST    Messages: 17

For an example of all I'm describing, see: http://associate.com/BBS_MUG_news/LinuxPPC/index.html

Also, I LOVE your idea to have an option setting a maximum message cap for Hypermail. Right now, I wipe out the entire archive at 11pm if the # of messages exceeds 20. I would *much* rather have Hypermail eliminate all but the last 20 messages when midnight strikes, so the archive doesn't appear empty.

Thanks,

Glen_Stewart_at_associate.com
