I agree with you about this being quite a major problem.

AFAIK, the second version of the program finds a satisfyable number of email addresses in the tests and I intend to insert that code into hypermail as soon as I get the time.

If you feel like it, you're more than welcome to do the job and then send me the patch that does it (preferably against 2a19)!
