Versions 2a18, 2a19, and 2a20 all core dump when I run 'testhm' in the 'test_messages_coming_in_on_stdin' mode. (2a16 passes this test fine, and I don't have 2a17 to test.)

The output from 2a20 and 2a18 are similar, but lack the line complaining about the date. Other 'testhm' tests not involving incremental updates work fine.
