I completely forgot to mention that I updated the configure script two days ago to include the last changes I made. It now accepts --htmldir --httpddir and --cgidir as options. The default is Apache style /usr/local/apache layout. (I know, I posted that I made the changes, but I didn't post that I actually updated the CVS tree as well)
Defaults:
$httpddir=/usr/local/apache
$cgidir=$httpddir/cgi-bin
$htmldir=$httpddir/htdocs
Read configure --help for more information (or other aliases you could use for --httpddir).
Keep in mind that some Linux distributions come with their web service installed under /var/lib/http[d], so you'll have to make your changes accordingly.
