 It looks like it won't be possible for the defaults to satisfy everyone, so I have added an option called use_sender_date which should improve date handling on systems such as yours. We will probably need more fiddling with which date is used where, but it should be working right most places if this option is set to reflect which date is more authoritative.

 I don't know much about formail.
 You may be able to get away with removing the check around lines 2027-2036 of parse.c that produce the "msgid mismatch" error, although this will create a risk that hypermail will produce bad results with no warning if the first Message-Id in the shortened mbox was a duplicate.
