[hypermail] Some problems with 2.1.1

I just installed hypermail 2.1.1, and I have a few problems:

1. I have set it to have 500 messages per folder (folder by date didn't work), but that makes the auto-generated indexes only show the last 500 messages, not all the over 2000 messages that are in the archive. The first index generated when I imported the current list had all mails in the index, but the first time I added a new message, it truncated the last two mailbox lists. Did I do anything wrong?
2. There are som spurious incorrect links in the indexes generated, with garbage characters. They are not always generated, though, but I got some interesting page look-ups when I ran my search engine indexer against the archive.

Any ideas?

(I'm new to this list, but I did quickly look through the archives without finding anything relevant there, but please point me there if I missed it)
