Hello hypermailers,

Except for Peter, I didn't get any feedback if people would be interested in having these enhancements in hypermail:

        http://w3.org/2002/03/archives-improvements/

I started to code them at one time. I must confess that this is not easy to do because there are many HTML formatting options in hypermail today. For example, we can decide on whether to use tables or not, whether to add an HR or not. It's hard to evaluate when you break something or how to adjust one of the existing options when you modify the rest of the HTML.

Is there any reason why we need today to have all those formatting options? Would people be happy if we have one standard HTML representation and then be able to customize it through CSS, as well as the user defined strings (like the archive name)?

If people agree on the above, I can engage myself to do the WAI changes. Otherwise, I think it would require much work to do them than the time I'll be able to spend doing it.

For the meantime, my goal is to convert the archives to XHTML. This was an item in the wishlist. The convertion will be backwards compatible with HTML browsers. I did it in a test version a couple of months ago without problems.

I wait for your feedback!

Thanks,
